Warm Nights

Warm Nights - temporary shelter for the homeless.

Village Baptist cooperates with other churches in Prince Georges County
to provide food and shelter for some of the homeless.

For one week during each winter, the Village fellowship hall becomes
a temporary shelter.  Click HERE for a newspaper story about this program.

Shoebox ministry Shoebox

The Children of Mine Shoebox Ministry is an annual project at Village.

The shoeboxes are collected during the year, then decorated and filled with gifts for disadvantaged youth in the Washington area.  In recent years, Villagers have delivered more than 100 boxes to the Children of Mine program.

Bowie Pantry Pantry food

Village collects food regularly for the Bowie Interfaith Pantry and Emergency Aid Fund, which helps those in need in our local community.

On Communion Sundays, Village collects fresh produce and delivers it to this group.

Habitat 2

Habitat for Humanity is another Village volunteer project, regularly providing Villagers a chance to help with a local service project.

Souper Bowl

On Super Bowl Sunday, a large soup pot is available for Villagers to make donations to the Souper Bowl of Caring.

The local program provides food for those in need in the greater Washington area.
DC Baptist Logo  The DC Baptist Convention

Village is an active cooperating church with the DC Baptist Convention.  Founded in 1801, the District of Columbia Baptist Convention (DCBC) consists of 150 churches in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Northern Virginia, and is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA, the Southern Baptist Convention, and the Progressive National Baptist Convention.

DCBC is committed to strengthening our member churches to advance Gods kingdom. We strive to support our member churches by providing ministry resources and opportunities for networking, fellowship and training, and by undergirding their programs and activities.

Village regularly joins other individual local programs such as the Walk for the Homeless.

The King will reply, I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of mine, you did for me.
